Samsung-Galaxy-S4-portrait

Samsung Galaxy S4 is the latest flagship phone from the infamous Apple iPhone competitor from South Korea.

In Canada, companies have already announced their availability:

Us Canucks only get the 16GB version due to apparent low demand for 32GB variant, its being credited to the expandable memory slot. I would just like to think we’re smarter and would rather get the memory cards ourselves.

The main competitor to the magical Galaxy S4 is the HTC One, which from the looks of it takes a different approach, solid hardware and quality focused. Both phones are quad-core for the North American market but that’s where the similarities end.

Still wondering when the auction for the 700Mhz will start? Me too, so while we contemplate the future of Canadian Telecoms Moblicity has made an entertaining little cartoon that you all might be thinking.

Its funny because the Big3 have enough infrastructure laid out, they should be restricted to a minimum amount and the smaller telecoms should get the majority of the new spectrum if they are to stand a chance to the well established Big3. It would probably be cheaper for them to just watch the smaller telecoms buy it and fail but, they are worried because they know that the new entrants will actually give the people what they want and deserve. We will see how this turns out but whatever happens keep the new phones coming.

So we will be doing this show weekly, or bi-weekly. Its a rough start (watch us stumble and hurt out knee) but we are open to suggestions and adjusting the show as we go.

We will be fixing up that echo problem and maybe just getting rid of the video. Let us know what you think.

Thanks to our friends at studioDYV.

In the meantime, enjoy!

Samsung Quad-Core coming at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress party next year in Febuary/March. Apparently going to have a Exynos chipset accompanied by a 720p Super AMOLED Plus display with LTE and 2GB of RAM to feed the monster CPU. Predicting that the clock would be 2GHz or 1.8GHz.

Apple better catch up to this one because if they don’t I see someone getting left in the dust of Android devices. Apple should probably sink some of those dollars they spend on lawyers to R&D. Samsung is in a position to rocket Android to the top with the support of many vendors.

With mobile devices that powerful we could see devices that are powered by their phones, why pay for another CPU when your phone already has so much power. With Windows soon going on mobile chips, we could see some practical uses for mobile CPUs instead of just a phone and travel toy.

Wow that was fast, So here is the brand new Radeon HD 7970 for $549. Specs:

  • 925MHz engine clock (overclockable to 1125MHz)
  • 2048 stream processors
  • 384-bit memory bus
  • 3GB of GDDR5

That is a hefty price but that is some kickass specs, and with a preview to the benchmarks I’m looking forward to some more for confirmation of its power but if these early ones are true then the 7970 is priced less than the 6990 but more powerful in some tests and uses less power than the NVIDIA 580 while still beating it. When this beast is overclocked it blows away the 580 while in the preview it seemed to maintain a max temperature of 86 degrees. It seems like an incredible GPU but if Radeon doesn’t get better drivers I’m going to have to switch to NVIDIA.

AMD’s 7000 series card leaked a photo with the alleged 7970 version but with this photo of only two 6-pin connectors I highly doubt that, unless they have managed to keep the power consumption down that much with the dye shrink, then that is awesome. The new card most likely using 384-bit wide-memory interface which should speed things up quite a bit, and a think looking cooling unit as well. Either way AMD Radeon better knock this one out of the park because the race has always been close and Radeon seems to be eeking by with value over performance. Until it officially comes out, I’m going to hold my breath.

Honda shows off their electric motorcycle concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show called the RC-E electric sportsbike concept.  Its got LED front headlights, sitting in a 250cc chassis. This just seems like a half ass attempt by Honda which is a leading motorcycle company to try out EVs although I do admire the battery that is hung on the bottom to greatly lower the centre of gravity for amazing handling. Hopefully next year they can show off some better fairings that don’t look like they pulled it off a bike from the 90s.

So just in-case you have been living under a rock, Android Market has had a sale for the past 10 days giving away apps for 10 cents. Sadly, it has come to an end and this is the last day of the sale. Wipe those tears as you click that purchase button on the last 10 cent app you could see for a while or (god forbid) forever. I really hope they do this again, it makes it a no brainer for any half decent app, let alone ones that have 4 to 4.5 star ratings.

HERE is today’s list of awesome goodies!

Check back on our old posts to see if they still have the apps from earlier this week on sale still. Part 1Part 2Part 3Part 4Part 5 (via AndroidCommunity), Part 6Part 7 (via MobileSyrup), Part 8 (via MobileSyrup), and Part 9.

By-the-way: MobileSyrup missed the last two I put in.
